28thirty(something)

The official photographer is back in town, so here is 28thirty in her natural environs.

Now, you'll note that my funnel neck is less wide and funnel-y than the original. Perhaps this is because I used Cascade 220 heathers instead of the recommended Peace Fleece Worsted. I also had to re-block and shrink the neck because it was wide enough to fit around Roger Clemens' neck on the first go.

But while the neck isn't as stiff and stylish as the original, it is now flexible enough for me to subtly obscure my face, much like Secret Squirrel.

You'll also note that I lengthened the body. I just felt like a cropped jacket chops up my torso too much and is less versatile, but you do lose a little of the pattern's panache when you go full-length.

As I wrote before, I absolutely loved working on the arms of this one. They practically knit themselves and, at the risk of sounding haughty, they turned out super cute. And I certainly hope they don't resemble the Michelin Man's arm.

Here is the buttoned-down version, since this can be a terribly toasty sweater.

All in all, I really like how this one turned out. I always have good luck with Zephyr's patterns and would give this another thumb's up. I also think my life has been devoid of purple for far too long.

It's perfect! Fits great, and the collar looks better, in my opinion. Longer makes sense, too. Great job!

That looks great! I think the mods were a good choice, too. I've been wanting to knit it, but i'm wary of the cropped sweater, too.

I really like your version. Zephyr's version is cute but I wasn't sure about the crop version either. This one looks very stylish and kinda makes me want to try this out. Looks really great on you.

It is so great!
It fits so well - I like the longer version - and the colour is fantastic.

Your arms look nothing like the Michelin Man's! Funny though.

I love it! It came out great, it looks like it fits you perfectly.

ugh, I'm still deciding on the length for mine so I started working on the sleeves while the body is on hold.

I immediately skipped over this patter because I wasn't interested in a cropped sweater, but your mods have put it back in the running. It looks really great!

Wow! I love the sleeves, and the way you can wear the collar in different ways. Good mods :)

Adorable -- no Michelin Man-ness at all! I definitely like it lengthened. In my opinion, there are very few people who can pull off the cropped look (thought you'd be one of them), and frankly I just don't see the utility of a cropped wool sweater. Isn't the point to stay warm?

By the way, any insight into the meaning of the name of this supercute design?

I really love your version! I like it with the funnel neck up and down, I like the extra length, and overall it looks great on you!

You did a beautiful job on this sweater! I think lengthening it looks nice, especially when you're wearing it with the top buttons undone, but that could just be because I'm not a big fan of cropped sweaters either.

Wonderful job! Everyone's life could use a little more purple, I think.

This looks soooo good on you. I'm really glad you lengthened it - it's perfect! I, too, was scared of the cropped version, but now the little wheels in my head are a spinnin'...

It looks great, and by no means Michelinesque! Lengthening it makes so much sense - cropped sweaters in cotton for over summer dresses seem reasonable, but if you're knitting in worsted wool, chances are it's cold enough you want your whole torso covered, says I. I love your version of the neck, buttoned and unbuttoned, and your Secret Squirrel pose is plain adorable!

Hmmm...seems to me I knit Glee entirely on the strength of your version - you could be luring me in once again!

Honestly, I skipped over this pattern when I first saw it, because a cropped sweater right at my middle would not be very flattering for my shape. I just figured one of the patterns that didn't work for me. Now that I see a longer version of it, I really like yours better. As others said, just seeing you lengthen it has added to my queue now. It looks much more versatile and something I would actually wear. The sleeves are "super cute" and I know exactly what you mean. It's perfect and not Michelin Man like at all. Great job!!

I didn't give this pattern a second glance when it first came out but GIRLFRIEND you have made me look again! You look so cute in your modified jacket. I might have to reconsider... I also love that it has two very different looks depending on buttoned up or buttoned down.

Another great sweater -- and awesome mods. I never gave this sweater a second look before this. Of course, I am of the opinion that you could look cute in a paper bag, so maybe it really is just YOU!
