A not-so-rusted Rusted Root

My verdant root has been patiently waiting to be photographed for days now. So here's an artsy shot that I realize doesn't exactly show off the sweater, but I'm using it nonetheless because it reminds me of the cover of Carole King's Tapestry.

But don't fear, here's a more traditional shot. (And if you are sick of pictures on my fire escape, keep it to yourself.)

I definitely give this little number a thumb's up. Took me about two weeks or so using Cotton Fleece in dusty sage on size five circulars. As I mentioned before, this kept my interest without being too mentally taxing, which is great since my brain is fried from getting up early. I love the puffed sleeves -- makes me feel a little like "Anne of Green Gables".

And I adore the little lace panel, though it provides a bit of a breeze so I'll probably need to wear a cami underneath it.

Here's a close-up of the lace panel.

So since everything in the world is closed tonight, and my beau has to work, I'm enjoying a "Law and Order" marathon. Does anyone else desperate miss Jerry Orbach? And does anyone else wish they could still get their hands on Law and Order:SVU Valentines? I might settle for a "That Girl" lunch box. (I need to chill with the ebay.)

Because what child wouldn't love a Remains of the Day lunch box?

"In the criminal justice system, you're considered especially gorgeous!" (I resisted the urge to throw "Rusted Root" into that sentence. :-D) Wow. I can't believe I had to settle for Star Wars valentines when I was a kid...sooo much less pithy.

Rusted Root looks fantastic (the "breeze" comment made me laugh out loud) I lurrrve the puffy sleeves!

Oh my god, I'm watching the same marathon right now- I was just watching the episode where Jerry Orbach retires :( My boyfriend seriously had tears in his eyes.

LOOOOOVE the sweater by the way! Another winner !

dood, puffed sleeves are the shizzo. your rusted root looks gorgeous. i'd so cast on for one now after seeing yours since i do have some cotton fleece but alas, it's a tad chilly these days so not really worth knitting up right now, right?

p.s. am i ever going to see you at the point ever again? :(

RR looks great! It is in my queue. I so miss Jerry Orbach. There is nothing like a L&O marathon of older episodes. The new ones don't feel as real New York as the old ones did.

wow this makes me wonder at any given moment how many knitters are watching Law and Order?!? Like you and kellyb i too was sitting there mumbling under my breath "nobody puts baby in the corner" and shaking my head sadly at the loss of Jerry Orbach.

So many things to comment on- I love the new FO, to start with. And I loved "Tapestry". And I too miss Jerry Orbach. Thank god for Law and Order re-runs. Even when he's being Mr Mean Cop on there though, I still remember him crying in Dirty Dancing.

I agree with the Tapestry resemblance in the photograph. that back/side lighting is always so mystical looking.

Anne of Green Gables.... all she ever dreamed of was puffed sleeves. After reading that book as a child, I couldn't wait to find a dress of my own with puffed sleeves (it was the 80's, not too hard to find puffed sleeves) Now I realize that with how broad my shoulders already are, anything with puffed sleeves makes me look like a linebacker.

Love the Verdant Root on you! I never thought puff sleeves could work, but this sweater is making me think it's worth giving it a shot.

Law and Order is one of those shows that is just so addictive that when I do stop to watch it, I end up in an unintended 4 hour marathon.

So, so cute. Love the Tapestry shot as well!

To answer your question, the city seems to be holding up pretty well, although we're definitely a city in mourning. Apparently a group went around on Saturday putting up black ribbons around trees all through Squirrel Hill. The weirdest part for me is that the new mayor is only a year older than I am!

love the sweater! it fits you so well! if i had more time, i'd buy the pattern and knit that one up right away.

re: substituting yarn for annabelle - not really sure what would be comparable, something with nice drape for sure, but not too slinky. because it's a sock weight yarn, it makes it a bit more difficult to find a substitution that isn't multicolored. i think kerrie takes custom orders and i'm sure she'd dye up some solid for you - that is, if you like the yarn, but not the colors. i'll let you know if i see anything else around though.

I forgot to leave a comment yesterday - I was thrown off track by the SVU Valentines.
I was laughing. Those are superb. If only they were still available!
I miss Jerry too - he was the best candleabra (sp?) ever.

The Verdant Root is stunning. What a lovely colour. Bring on the pictures of your fire escape - very NY.

Puffed sleeves! Well at least you don't have to turn sideways to get through doorways in yours - what a shocking waste of fabric. ;-D

Your Rusted Root came out gorgeous. I like the view from your balconey. Different from my views.

I love those Law and Order SVU valentines!

I totally miss Jerry Orbach. Law and Order just isn't the same without Lenny Brisco. I thought he was hilarious every time he appeared in Murder She Wrote. I just couldn't get over how different his character in them was from his Lenny Brisco persona.
