No more complaining -- well, only a little more

I realize this has been a rather miserable blog lately. With all of the nonsense going on around here, I haven't had much time for knitting. And now, thanks to other forces of nature, I haven't had much luck at blogging.

Yes, I have no electricity. I shouldn't say none -- my building, mercifully, is on a backup generator, so I have enough power to keep my fridge on and, if I'm lucky, maybe one flickering lightbulb. Most of my switches don't work, and you can forget about air conditioners and fans. Also, the outage killed my modem. This has been going on since Monday.

(If I can digress for a moment, this would NOT happen in Manhattan. If the power went out on Park Ave. from, say, 79th to 34th St., Con Ed would have fixed the problem lickety split. But an outer borough? It might take a full week, meaning some time Sunday or Monday. I'll be fine, but I feel terrible for my less fortunate neighbors, especially seniors and folks with kids. Some have seen all of their food spoil, and they can't buy anything else because all of the restaurants and markets are closed. As always, poorer families suffer most during a crisis.)

Since I can't charge my digicam and can't upload to my laptop, I thought I'd share a goofy cell phone pic instead.

I swear have good news to share very soon, and maybe even a finished object.

Oh, and you might want to check this out on Monday -- you may recognize someone.

ooh I watched the preview and how exciting!!! That's so cool, what a celeb. I think my sister had her picture in the local newspaper once right after she had pitched a baseball and she looked less than great. The facial expression was so brutish, but I suppose it captured the moment well..

Keep your head up sweetie pie. I am so looking forward to your finished object too. I started on Ms Marigold, using some Cotton Ease I had onhand in Pistachio. Not my fav color for this knit at first, but I think it's going to be super cute!

You look pretty fabulous for a lady with no air conditioning!
How horrible - you and your poor neighbours. And I hear the humidity has been intense this week.
I hope that they get things going sooner than the weekend for all of you.
In the meanwhile...this too shall pass.

I'm so sorry about your power outage! I hope the problem gets fixed soon. Don't worry about not having FO and knitting news. With all that's been going on with you I'm amazed you can still even post at all.

My family and I are now 60+ hours without our electricity either, and it will likely be Sunday before it is restored. So we are going out of town to visit the yucky in-laws. At least for once I am happy to see them.

I hope I get it back in time for the show!

So sorry about the lack of electricity! I'm sure the idea of knitting in the summer without A/C is not your idea of fun. Hope it all gets fixed soon -- can't wait to see the progress on the WIPs!

So sorry about your electricity!! It's so awful in the summer. At least in the winter you can bundle up!

I can't wait to see another FO from you. You have been a major inspiration in my using up my stash. I really NEED a Ms. Marigold!

How funny about the show! When I saw the commercial I actually looked at Isaac and said "I wonder if Carrie will be on TV"! I can't wait to check it out!

I'm sorry things are in such a state right now! Just remember, it's only temporary and things can only get better! See you this weekend!

Oh no! No electricity is no fun, especially with the weather being what it is. Things have got to get better for you.

I'm so watching that show on Monday.

ugh! you poor thing and poor queens too! it's ridiculous that con ed can't get on the electricity outage sooner. third world country comes to mind. i guess things are probably more palatable at work in manhattan, right? maybe you can just hang there?

No exectricity - what a bummer! You never realize how much rely on it till it's gone. I hope it gets resolved soon..

That's really exciting about the show! I'll have to remember to tune in - and tell my dad about it (he's an editor and journalism lecturer back in MI)...

So sucky...I hope the heat breaks soon. Use the time to take cool baths surrounded by lots of candles. (That assumes your building's generator has enough power to run the water pump...) Good luck!

No a/c in this heat. Hope all is well very soon. I think you have been doing pretty darn good at blogging especially since the leak in your ceiling and the noisy neighbor.LOL Makes for good topics sometimes and throw in a little knitting. Hugs!

I was thinking of you when I heard about the power outage and hoping you weren't one of the unlucky ones. I hope those dorks get it going again soon. How funny that you'll be on that show. I'll have to watch it now!

Darn it, I missed your show! What on eart was I doing that could have been more important than that? Nothing, I'm sure. I hope your power comes back soon. And yes, here in Manhattan, the ONLY time I've lost power in 9 years was during THE blackout.
