Blogger bonanza!

The stars must have been aligned. It didn't rain, my editors didn't call me in early, and I actually found a parking space near Grand Central Terminal. So my afternoon with Project Spectrum creator and blogger extraordinaire Lolly went off without a hitch!

Lolly, who is as sweet and funny and pretty in person as she is on her blog, came up to New York for a few days and had time to meet up with me and the ever-talented Marie. It was such a treat to see them both! We stopped by School Products, where I showed restraint and bought only a magazine, then had a little lunch. Here are Marie and Lolly, examining the giant heaping cones of yarn.

We also stopped by the Yarn Connection, which had the friendliest employees. Lolly picked up some wonderful kelly green cotton fleece (if I remember correctly) but, again, I resisted temptation and didn't buy even a skein. I'm just not sure what to make next and didn't want to make a rash yarn purchase. Shameful, I know.

Here are Lolly and I, before we parted ways. (Gosh, I look just like my father in this picture....)

I'm sort of surprised that I've been working on my Somewhat Cowl for more than a week but haven't managed to blog about it. When I bought this remarkably soft Misti baby alpaca at Knit-a-way a few weeks ago, it seemed more aqua than green. But it's forest green, no doubt about it.

It was only a few months back that I swore off top down raglan sweaters forever, but here I am, knitting another one. What's killing me is that I'm tempted to try it on every two inches or so, but I really hate weaving in the scrap yarn. After the Tubey debacle, I'm petrified of ill-fitting knits. But I soldier on because the finished somewhat cowls I've seen out there are quite fabulous. (Craftster is down right now, or else I'd link to the knit-a-long there.) Here's the requisite progress shot:

Um, this is terribly off-topic, but how bad does the Vin Diesel movie "Find Me Guilty" look? Even the commercials are unwatchable.

OMG, I just saw that commercial today.. I was half paying attention to it, and then at the end realized it was Vin Diesel.. He looks horrible. Anyways, can't wait to see the Somewhat Cowl. I love that color!

That picture of you and Lolly is so cute! It looks like you guys had a great time. And congratulations on your restraint. I know I couldn't have managed it even with that beautiful alpaca waiting for me at home.
That movie looks like its going to fall right in line with The Pacifier. You'd think he could see these disasters coming.

I'm lucky enough to have not seen the commercials for any latest vin diesel project. That somewhat cowl is exciting. I really can't wait to see how it turns out. It really doesn't look forest green in the pictures either, but I know now from several internet purchases not to trust my monitor.

Sounds like the 3 of you had a wonderful day. The SC is coming along beautifully - I'll bet that Alpaca is just dreamy-soft. Better finish it quick so you can wear it before it gets too warm! I am determined to get one good wear out of my hourglass before Spring officially starts. And yes, the new Vin Diesel movie looks very very very bad. I thought it was a joke!! He should fire the agent that convinced him it was a good idea.

You couldn't really swear off top down raglans. ;) They are so friggin fast to knit!

I love the cute pic of you and Lolly! It sounds like you guys had so much fun. I was lucky enough to meet Lolly last October, and you're so right- she's every bit as sweet, funny and pretty in person as she is on her blog. Such a sweetheart! Your Somewhat Cowl looks fantastic so far! Looking forward to the modeled shot. ;-) Take care, Carrie! :-)

I can't wait to see the Somewhat Cowl finished in this yarn. I have the pattern but can't decide on a yarn for it. Yours is coming along very nicely. That is a very cute picture of you and Lolly! In the photo with Lolly & Marie with all the yarn, is that the place called School Products? It looks like a yarn shop I should visit.

OMG, that Vin Diesel movie trailer was exhausting and vomitous to say the least. Horrible!

Hey Carrie, I mean't to tell you how much I love the Pointy Kitty you made so much that now I have to make one! Too cute! You asked what pattern I am using for my Cashmere Tank top, well, I am not using any pattern, I am just knitting from a design I sketched up and just alot of praying..that the strap part goes well. So far it is so easy and love this cashmerino yarn.

Dear Carrie - we had such fun! I just want to thank you again for taking the time out of your busy day to meet up with me! It was wonderful to finally meet you and to have no problems jumping right into conversations - like you said, we already knew each other! ;)

You have another beautiful knit on the needles. I think that color will be stunning on you!

Once again, thank you, and I hope we can meet again!

xo,
L

I haven't seen the Vin Diesel commercial but nothing could be worse than when he appeared on Regis to promote The Pacifier. Before that appearance, he may have had people fooled into thinking he was tough- afterwards, he just had you thinking he was a total jackass.

I have not had the misfortune of seeing the trailers for that movie, but will keep an eye out for them now so I can get my helping of awful for the day.

I love Misti Alapca. So soft, so pretty. Can't wait to see your SC, I bet it will be gorgeous.

Looks like you had lots of fun with Lolly! I just read her post about hanging out with you and Marie. Good times.

What a wonderful day!!! School products was a good choice - a New York "hidden gem" that every visiting knitter should see! I can't believe you didn't buy anything though! When I went there their sale yarn just screamed "buy me!"
